As Reverend Charles Alfred Baer stepped from the train car on to the platform on August 11th 1863, he beheld a scene that was both familiar and unfathomable. Baer, a graduate of the Lutheran Seminary at Gettysburg, spent less than 48 hours in Gettysburg in the summer of 1863. His sojourn, however, can tell us much about the way people viewed the battle in the immediate aftermath.
Join Pete Miele, Executive Director of SRMEC, as he recounts Baer’s journey.
