The Lutheran Seminary and Pennsylvania College during the Battle of Gettysburg
Gettysburg was and is known as a town full of higher education institutions, two of which students populated at the time of the fateful battle in July 1863. Hear the stories of important figures and unknown people who dealt with the battle in both places and survived the ordeal. Michael Aaron, an SRMEC summer intern from Gettysburg College, will discuss connections between the two institutions, and how they highlighted greater themes of the Civil War era including race and slavery, medicine, and human stories of heroism and suffering.
